Port Planning & Development

HOD: Shri. S. V. Madabhavi, chief manager(pp&d) & incharge sez

Key functions of the department:

  • Planning for future development of Port.
  • Maintaining the requisite depths in the navigational area of the port.
  • Arranging monitoring surveys of wet infrastructure of the Port.
  • Undertake feasibility studies, hydraulic model studies etc as required in respect of short/long term development plans.
  • Get approvals from relevant authorities for plan schemes.
  • Formulation of Five year Plan and Annual Plan and interface with Ministry of Surface
  • Transport in regard to monitoring of Plan Schemes.
  • Construction of infrastructure including but not limited to wharves/jetties, roads, storage sheds, buildings, access, drainage and reclamation etc.
  • Maintenance of Port civil structures including buildings, roads, berths etc.
  • Maintenance of Township Buildings, both residential and non-residential along with roads, drainage there to.
  • Preparation of proposals, obtain approvals, finalise tender documents, evaluate bids and award of Licenses in respect of BOT Projects. Monitoring of BOT projects during construction and operation phase is also the responsibility of the department.

  • Overall drainage of Port area.
  • Co-ordination with other Development Authorities in the neighbourhood of the Port.
  • Co-ordination for rail and road infrastructure support to the Port.
